Once a mechanic’s workshop, this heritage-listed building was transformed into the award-winning Leura Garage café and restaurant. The project involved extensive site decontamination, structural restoration, and the creation of a floating ventilated slab system to manage site conditions sustainably.
Featuring solar hydronic heating, a 10 kW solar system, and 44,000 L of rainwater storage, Leura Garage is a standout example of how innovative design can repurpose heritage spaces for modern, low-impact use.
