The Glenbrook Healthy House, a recipient of the 2019 HIA-CSR NSW Housing Awards for Custom Built Home and GreenSmart Sustainable Home, exemplifies the values of Blue Eco Homes by integrating sustainability, health, and innovative design. Nestled in the Blue Mountains, this two-bedroom home with a home office was designed to prioritise the clients’ health needs, featuring ecological design strategies like maximising solar access, cross ventilation, and bushfire protection.
Key innovations included a frame redesign to reduce electromagnetic fields, the use of low-chemical materials, and extensive insulation and glazing for energy efficiency. The home also boasts a 40,000-litre underground water tank, a 7.92kW solar PV system, and a waste management plan that achieved a 96.82% recycling rate, highlighting Blue Eco Homes’ commitment to environmental stewardship and client well-being.
